The Chicago Wolves look forward to celebrating the new massive team mural painted on a building located just across the street from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont and kicking-off the season this Saturday, Oct. 11, with a large tailgating party.
Completed last week, the new bright red mural featuring a green-eyed wolf between the words Chicago Wolves in yellow is painted on a large village-owned building wall at the corner of Lunt and Lyndon avenues, just across from the arena.
Chicago Wolves President of Business Operations Mike Gordon told the Journal-Topics Newspapers on Monday, “We are very excited about the new mural next to the Allstate Arena which will be our home for many years to come. The artist did a really great job.”
To kick-off the new season and celebrate the new mural, the Wolves host to a free tailgate party in the arena parking lot on opening day from 2 to 6 p.m. featuring live music, games and food.
“We’ll have free parking until 4 p.m.,” Gordon added.
The game against Charlotte begins at 7 p.m.
Gordon also said Chicago Wolves alumni will appear at the tailgate party including players Bob Nardella, Wendell Young and Steve Martins.
“We are really excited,” Gordon said. “This is our 21st season. We have never had a losing season.”
The new Chicago Wolves mural was designed and painted by mural artist, Rahmaan Statik Barnes. He recently completed the new Rosemont mural, with eight local students, that spans three building walls and sits across from the Rosemont Park District’s Recreation Center on Barry Street.
The mural is part of the village’s, "It’s Art Here" program.
“We think the fans will really enjoy seeing the mural,” Gordon said.
