The new statue and park that will be dedicated on Father’s Day to Rosemont’s Mayor for more than 50 years, the late Donald E. Stephens, is quickly taking shape with an elevated circular base in place and the former Mayor’s name in gold lettering.

The statue and park will be located on the east side of Village Hall near Devon Avenue and River Road. The statue is being funded by approximately $350,000 in private donations while the Village is paying about $940,000 in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district funds for development of the small park.

“The base is mostly done,” said Mayor Brad Stephens last week. He also said the area will be lit at night.

Designing the statue is Timeless Creations, a North Shore-based company that also designed the Michael Jordan statue at the United Center, the Harry Caray statue at Wrigley Field and statues of Detroit Tiger baseball greats. Brad Stephens, who recently visited Timeless Creations to view the progress of the statue called the work of art “phenomenal.”
