Before the bone chilling cold set in Monday, hundreds of people participated in what was called a successful “Skate With the Greats” event at MB Financial Park in Rosemont Saturday, January 16.
Chicago Blackhawks ice hockey players and members of the Blackhawks Alumni Association were on hand to skate around the park’s rink and sign autographs for the many fans in attendance.
During the event, a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities, over 250 attendees met and skated with Blackhawks alumni including Cliff Koroll, Eric Daze, Troy Murray, Murray Bannerman, Phil Russell, Brian Noonan, Grant Mulvey, Reggie Kerr, Dave Mackey, Peter Marsh, Reid Simpson, and Steve Konroyd.
Attendees also met Blackhawks players Trevor van Riemsdyk and Andrew Desjardins as well as legendary Blackhawks alumni including Denis Savard. The players also signed autographs in Kings Bowl just steps away from the outdoor rink.
MB Financial Park officials told the Journal & Topics this was their most successful “Skate With the Greats” event to date in Rosemont, raising just over $90,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Adult tickets were $150 each. The cost for children ages 12 or younger was $100. Each ticket provided a 30-minute skating session on the ice with the “greats”, access to the 30-minute autograph session at Kings Bowl and a silent auction offering exclusive Blackhawks memorabilia.
