Decorating Contest Is On In Rosemont
The annual village of Rosemont home Holiday Decorating Contest is underway, officials announced this week.
During the week of Dec. 18, the contest’s anonymous judges will begin touring the village looking for residential holiday decorations that stand out. The judging will be completed by Dec. 23. Winners will be notified by phone soon after. Contest judges, officials note, are not from Rosemont.
All residents can participate in the contest including those in single-family homes, condos and apartments. No registration is required.
Top prizes are: first place - $300; second place - $200; third place - $100 and $50 for the top decorated condo or apartment.
“We look at all decorations,” Public Works official Lisa DiMatteo said. “It’s great fun to see how everyone decorates and adds to the village’s holiday celebration.”
The winners will be recognized at the January Rosemont Village Board meeting at village hall and receive their prizes then. If winners cannot attend the meeting, prizes will be mailed.
Last year’s winners were first place - Kathy and Ken Patronski; second place - Lori and John Hansen; third place - Amanda and Joe Gentile; and fourth place - Sheila O’Connell.
Rosemont’s home decorating contest began in the 1980s. Prizes are funded by the Bradley A. Stephens Committeeman Fund.
