Grand Opening Weekend at Rosemont’s New Fashion Outlets Mall

Retailers reported record-breaking sales during the grand opening weekend at Rosemont’s new fashion mall.
An estimated 235,000 shoppers passed through Fashion Outlets Chicago between Thursday and Sunday, according to village officials, and more than 70,000 vehicles were parked in the village’s parking garages.
Bloomingdale’s The Outlet Store sold $160,000 in products on Thursday, according to village officials, while Gucci and Prada each sold about $250,000. Saks Fifth Avenue Off Fifth and Neiman Marcus Last Call each generated $150,000 on grand opening day.
The Nike Factory Store and Crabtree & Evelyn announced the grand opening was the biggest in company history, and Worth New York reported the greatest daily sales in company history.
Many stores reported sales exceeded company projections. Helzberg Diamonds stated it reached its sales goal by noon on the opening day, Giorgio Armani stated it doubled its sales projection by noon, and Janie & Jack doubled its expected sales by 4 p.m. on Thursday.
Lines of shoppers could be seen in front of many retailers at the mall including Tory Burch, with wait times up to three hours. Starbucks reported long lines throughout the weekend.
Fashion Outlets Chicago cost approximately $250 million to construct. It was part of Rosemont’s growing development boom during the last few years, led by MB Financial Park, a dozen restaurants, bars and other entertainment-related businesses that is also central to public events including fireworks displays and music performances.
