How To Assist Helping Hand
Throughout the year, Helping Hand helps Rosemont residents in need with food, toys and other assistance such as park district camp registration fees. The top donations it seeks are turkeys, Target and Toys R Us gift cards, along with monetary donations.
Helping Hand is a non-profit program within the village of Rosemont designed to meet the needs of families in need.
Initially, Helping Hand provides food baskets and toys for families at Christmas time; however, recognizing that the needs of these families extend beyond the holiday season, the Helping Hand now provides additional assistance. It has supplied monetary assistance for students' school lunches, field trips, day camp and school physicals. This program has also offered clothing, aid for families after a fire, death of a loved one, and hardship, as providing food gift certificates and assistance to seniors.
Helping Hand is not government funded. It holds multiple fundraisers throughout the year to fund itself, but lately due to the economy, the need for gifts for these families has greatly increased, while the funds have decreased. Officials note that without this program, many families will go without toys for their children on Christmas, food on holidays, and monetary assistance for children and seniors.
Helping Hand is seeking donations to continue to provide families with these gifts. Donations may be made to: Village of Rosemont Helping Hand, 9501 W. Devon Ave., Rosemont IL 60018, Attn. Rick Drehobl.
