Local Venue Set To Unveil New Sports Bar

After undergoing a makeover, Rosemont’s Kings Dining & Entertainment, located in MB Financial Park, will reveal its new look in November. Crews have been busy transforming Kings’ existing restaurant into The Draft Room, an updated 2,775 square-foot sports bar.

“It’s not an in-your-face sports bar,” said event manager Margie Axelson. “It’s more of a gastropub.”
Patrick Lyons, president and founder of Kings Dining & Entertainment, said the goal is to make The Draft Room an approachable yet sophisticated elevated sports bar experience with beer, sports and table games.

The bar will feature reclaimed wood, booth and banquette seating and brick walls. In the warmer months, three garage doors will open into a beer garden patio overlooking the park.

Axelson said the new room is distinct from the eight-lane bowling alley, bar and billiards area that takes up the rest of the 27,000-square-foot building, essentially creating two venues in one.

The new space, directly to the right when patrons enter the front door of Kings, features a 75-foot bar, more than 40 draft beers, three 14-foot HD LED display panels and from-scratch dining options.

Axelson said the executive-chef-driven food will include burgers and fries with a gourmet twist, as well as seafood and steaks.

“It’s not bowling alley food,” she said. “We are very picky about how we present our food.”

The Draft Room will play the NFL Sunday Ticket during football season. It also has the MVP private dining space, which Axelson said is already booked for an upcoming rehearsal dinner.

After undergoing renovations for the past month-and-a-half, the space is set to open Friday, Nov. 17.
“I’m just very excited about it,” Axelson said.

Kings Dining & Entertainment opened as Kings Bowl in Rosemont’s MB Financial Park entertainment district in 2012. At the time, it was the first Kings outside of Massachusetts, where the company originated.
