Valentine's Day... Is Time To Be Active With Your Loved One
By: Christine Struble
While everyone thinks of flowers, romance and love on Valentine’s Day, some valentines may want to focus on the fun. Picking a Valentine’s Day activity that gets the two love birds’ hearts pumping can be the perfect way to share the love. Chicago offers several active Valentine's Day activities that will have couples being active on the day of love. From the feeling of flight to a fast plunge, these activities will leave the Valentine’s Day couples breathless.
Inviting someone to jump out of an airplane for Valentine’s Day may not top everyone’s romantic list. At iFLY, guests can experience the feeling of skydiving without jumping out of a plane. The indoor skydiving phenomena is a huge adrenaline rush. The iFLY experience is the same way that skydivers train. The indoor experience allows fliers to feel the powerful wind hold them in flight.
After classroom instruction, guests are suited up for their flight. All ages can participate in the iFLY experience. Instructors guide flyers through the 2-1 minute flight experiences. A few key body position techniques help fliers to achieve the best flight possible. Adding the “fly high” option is highly recommended. For more information or to book a flight, please visit iFLY website.
Polar Peak Rosemont
Even though Chicago has had a mild winter, the cold is here just in time for Valentine’s Day. Rosemont’s Polar Park is ready for some frigid fun. Love birds can grab a tube and race down the lanes to the finish. Constructed in partnership with StackBox Structures, the steep grade will get hearts fluttering for the day of love. With the lack of fallen snow this season, the Polar Peak experience allows lovebirds or families to enjoy a little frozen adventure.
Polar Peak will be open 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. on weekends and 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15. Tickets are $3 per run with discounts on multiple runs. Tickets can be purchased on site at the box office. No special equipment or clothing is required. Riders will have to carry the tube up the structure.
Chicago Wolves Ice Skating Rink
Even though a hockey team sponsors the rink, Valentine’s Day fun doesn’t need to come with a body check. Located in MB Financial Park, the Chicago Wolves ice rink is free and open to the public. From 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, skaters can take a leisurely turn around the rink. Skate rentals are available for $8.
MB Financial Park is located at 5501 Park Place in Rosemont.
