Through the New Year's holiday weekend, sun, ice skating and food drew huge crowds to MB Financial Park for Rosemont's winter activities known as "Frozemont."
The line to rent ice skates snaked out of the rental office.
While top ten '70s and '80s tunes played, people of all ages laced up skates and took to the ice. Some grabbed the wall for support, while others just went with the flow with their friends and families. Another crowd lined up to get into the Park's restaurants for lunch.
MB Financial Park at Rosemont officials estimated more than 1,400 people skated at the park on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 2-3.
“We had an amazing weekend filled with people and families enjoying the park,” Event Manager Sarah Clemmensen said. “Also, on New Year’s Eve the Park was slammed. We had quite the crowd gathered outside for our fireworks presentation to ring in 2016.”
The Chicago Wolves Ice Rink was open from 11 a.m. through 1 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31 through Friday, Jan. 1. It will continue to be open from 2 to 10 p.m. on Sundays through February 28. In addition to the Monday holidays on Jan. 18 and Feb. 15, from 2 to 10 p.m. Ice skating is free. Skate rentals are available on-site for $8.
The Ice Rink is next to the just opened two-story “Polar Peak” snow tubing hill.
