Except for new guardrails and security sensing equipment yet to be installed, construction on the new Mannheim Road entrance to Allstate Arena in Rosemont is nearly complete.
“It is 98% completed,” Mark Wrzeszcz, senior project manager at Christopher B. Burke Engineering, told the Journal & Topics. “It should be done in the next couple of weeks.”
A new Allstate Arena marquee stands next to the new entrance, which has been widened.
When the new entrance is complete, a four-lane paved roadway with a median will lead event-goers into the stadium's east parking lot from Mannheim.
“The entryway will go from two lanes to four with parking added along with the new marquee sign for the venue,” Wrzeszcz said. A sizeable number of new parking spaces has also been added.
Officials expect the new entrance to alleviate parking congestion for those going to and from arena events. Construction of the new entryway was estimated to cost $416,553.
Prior to construction, the Mannheim entrance was used for parking for traffic control officers.
