Work on major improvements to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont are “off to a pretty good start,” according to Executive Director Chris Stephens.

Rosemont Village Board members in April approved an amount not to exceed $2,166,131 for the work that includes extensive interior painting and renovation of seven sets of restrooms within the huge convention center located on River Road.

“The painting work is moving fast,” explained Stephens on Monday. “It’s probably 40 to 50% done.”
D-R Rosemont, LLC has been hired to perform the work that includes repainting the facility’s hallways and giving the center a “whole new dramatic, different, fresh and modern look.”

Stephens further explained that work on one set of restrooms has already begun and well as some of the 9 to 10 concessions stands located within the center. He estimated that the entire project will be completed some time next year adding that work on the project will revolve around scheduled shows.
