DONALD E. STEPHENS CONVENTION CENTER RECOGNIZED FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AND OUTSTANDING ILLUMINATING ENGINEERING

Dear Friends,

Have you ever had the experience of leading a team with goals far off in the future and a Finish Line that isn’t even in sight? Imagine knowing that you are right on course, even when there isn’t much evidence of same.

Then suddenly, you win an award or receive an accolade, and you instantly feel not just a sense of gratification, but that someone out there really appreciates and endorses your earnest effort.

That’s the kind of accomplishment our staff at the Stephens Center and I experienced last week when renowned New York Investment Banker Merrill Ring announced: “the
success of the Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center is due to the leadership of Chris Stephens and the hard work, dedication and commitment of Chris and his staff. It has truly been an heroic effort.”

Mr. Ring was a senior vice president at Bank of America, and also served as head of the finance department there, from 1956-1986. He founded his own firm in 1986 --
Ring/McAfee Investment Banking. These are challenging times, making Mr. Ring’s vote of confidence even more meaningful.

Additionally, we just received an Award of Merit from the Illuminating Engineering Society of America, for the complete re-design and subsequent new turn-around drive at the Stephens Center’s main entrance on River Road. They are recognizing creative and innovative design through the use of illumination on light, liquid and architecture.

The Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center continues to be the only municipally-owned center in the nation that returns revenues back to the Village of Rosemont and the State of Illinois, without any subsidies.

Onward.

Christopher R. Stephens
