ROSEMONT IMPROVES ROAD ACCESS

Led by Mayor Stephens, the Village of Rosemont is actively seeking to improve access in its road system in several key locations.

“Moving critical masses of people efficiently always has been our challenge,” remarked the mayor. “Improving our roads and traffic flow has been the means to the end of continuing to grow business and economic development in Rosemont,” he explained. “That’s why we have entered into an agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation and the City of Chicago to complete the Balmoral Avenue Extension Project.

The mayor explained that the project is extending Balmoral Avenue west into Chicago O’Hare International Airport, providing a second airport entrance and exit access, as well as access to southbound Mannheim Road. Additionally, the village is working on an agreement with the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority to construct a northbound exit ramp from I-294 to Balmoral Avenue.

Rosemont officials are actually entering into a contract to purchase property in Chicago from two property owners whose land is necessary for the construction of the ramp.

Finally, the village is entering into an agreement to purchase property on the southwest quadrant of Balmoral and I-294 to allow the village to create a development situated in a prime area once the ramp and Balmoral Extension have been completed.
