Rosemont officials said the two-story Polar Peak tubing hill at MB Financial Park at Rosemont closed for the season Monday, February 22. It was originally slated to close Sunday, February 28.
Warmer weather over the past few days melted much of the snow on Polar Peak. It has been open only on weekends since the holidays.
Village officials say the snow will be removed from Polar Peak this week before it is dismantled. No decision has been made yet as to if Polar Peak will return next year.
Additionally, MB Financial Park at Rosemont’s ice rink will be dismantled next Monday, February 29, as officials prepare for the concerts in the park series in the area where the ice rink is located.
MB Financial Park Event Manager Sarah Clemmensen said Tuesday they will release the list of entertainers slated for the park concert series in the near future. This will include rock and country music groups.
Last summer the popular free MB Financial Park at Rosemont concert in the park series ran from Memorial Day to Labor Day with rock groups playing on Thursday nights and country music featured on Tuesday nights. The music was followed by fireworks.
