The number of events slated for Rosemont in January make it seem like spring is in the air.

This month, thousands will flock to the village to see what’s hot to wear while walking down the aisle, learn inside travel and outdoor tips, take up bull riding, and enjoy watching old friends at the annual Disney on Ice show.

Those are just some of the special events taking place at the Donald E. Stephens (DES) Convention Center and Allstate Arena. In addition, ongoing events in January include ice skating at MB Financial Park and Chicago Wolves hockey and DePaul Blue Demons men’s basketball at the arena.

The first big show at the DES is the annual Bridal & Wedding Expo (Jan. 7-8). Shop for wedding apparel, reception venues, invitations, photographers, music, menus and more. This will be the show’s fourth straight year at the DES.

Cowboys take over the village Jan. 13-15 as the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) bring their nationally-televised competition, featuring the top 35 bull riders in the world, to Allstate Arena to compete in what they call the “Toughest Sport on Dirt”. Each event pits the best bull riders against the top bovine athletes.

Country music’s Justin Moore and Lee Brice take the Rosemont Theatre stage as part of their “American Made” tour Jan. 14, also featuring William Michael Morgan.

Learn about dinosaurs at the colorful and informative “Discover the Dinosaurs: Unleashed” at the DES (Jan. 13-16).

That same weekend, skate with current and former hockey players from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 at MB Financial Park in Rosemont.

The Electric Association will host the 2017 ChicaGO Safety and Sustainability Conference at the DES (Jan. 19) featuring the latest products, services and innovations from companies that design, manufacture or sell products or technologies to the construction industry.

This will be the 37th year for the Chicago Outdoor Sports Show at the DES. It runs each day from Thursday, Jan. 19 through Sunday, Jan. 22 featuring seminars, attractions and exhibits designed for outdoor sports lovers. Attendees can shop for fishing tackle, boats, archery, outfitters, wildlife art, hunting supplies, charters, rafting, gun safes and knives and even taxidermy products.

Denver-based The Lumineers will perform at Allstate Arena at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20.

International travel and new journeys take center stage at the 12th annual Travel and Adventure Show (Jan. 21-22) at the DES featuring travel gurus Rick Steves, Peter Greenberg and Samantha Brown.

Get the white gloves on as MJ Live, a Michael Jackson tribute concert, kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Rosemont Theatre.

For five days, Jan. 25-29, Allstate Arena features the “Disney On Ice Presents Follow Your Heart” show.

The GOT7 Flight Log: (Turbulence) in USA 2017 appears at 7 p.m. Jan 25 at the Rosemont Theatre.

Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy are set for 7:30 p.m. Jan. 27, also at the Rosemont Theatre.

After all this, get back to that winter reality with the first “Crawl into the New Year” event from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at MB Financial Park where participants can sample discounted food and drink items from Park restaurants and bars. At the same time, marvel at the skill of ice carvers as the second annual MB Financial Park “Ice Carving Competition” heats up at 2 p.m. that day in the Park.
