And they’ve landed in Rosemont. Star Wars fans this week will not only be able to see the blockbuster new movie “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” open Thursday, Dec. 17, but can catch a marathon of the seven prior Star Wars films at the Muvico theaters at MB Financial Park.

The ongoing marathon of the earlier Star Wars flicks begins at 3:59 a.m. Thursday.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will first be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday in Muvico’s Premiere and MuviXL theatres and at 7:15 p.m. on 16 other screens.

As of Tuesday when contacted by the Journal & Topics, theater workers said no one was camped outside the moviehouse waiting in line for the opening of the movie or to buy tickets.

Disney, which produced the new Star Wars movie, said online ticket sales have reportedly broken all records. In Rosemont, the 7 p.m. Thursday reserved seat, 3D showing of the movie is sold out along with tickets for the 8:30 p.m. Thursday showing in 3D/D-box reserved seating.

Disney bought the production company behind "Star Wars," Lucasfilm, in 2012 for $4 billion.
