Senate Declares June 19 "Village Of Rosemont Day"
Members of the Illinois Senate including local State Senator Dan Harmon (pictured with Mayor Stephens) met with Rosemont's Mayor Brad Stephens on May 3 in the Illinois Senate chambers in Springfield to discuss state issues and to approve a resolution proclaiming June 19, 2016 as Village of Rosemont Day.
The resolution notes the Village’s tremendous growth since its incorporation in 1956 and the fact that it returned to the state $85 million in 2015. This was more than 10 times the amount of money Illinois provides Rosemont.
The honor also said that there are more than 18,000 private sector jobs in Rosemont that generate more than $40 million annually in income tax revenue. Also, businesses in the Village generate more than $900 million from conventions, trade shows, restaurants, hotels, shopping and entertainment.
The resolution further cited Rosemont’s Allstate Arena, which is ranked No. 3 in attendance in the U.S., and that the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center annually attracts more than one million visitors “providing hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity to the region.”
