Triton Gives Thanks For Mark Stephens
Triton College Board of Trustees Chairman Mark Stephens was the honoree at the 25th annual Triton College Foundation President’s Reception on Nov. 15. The event brought more than 600 people to Triton’s campus to honor Stephens, who is celebrating his 25th year as board chairman.
Following a heartwarming introduction from each of his children, Stephens took to the stage to reflect on his time as chairman, thanking many people who supported his vision of creating high quality, affordable education opportunities for students in western Cook County and beyond.
Chairman Stephens was presented awards from the Illinois Community College Trustees Association, the Triton College Foundation as well as from his fellow board members. He was also inducted into the Triton College Alumni Association’s Wall of Fame. The evening also featured a video paying tribute to Mr. Stephens’ accomplishments as board chairman, which include the modernization of Triton’s facilities and equipment, as well as the implementation of special programs designed to serve the community, including the high school completion program (formerly GED).
Guests enjoyed dinner and cocktails courtesy of students enrolled in Triton’s Hospitality Program, as well from several area restaurants. Attendees also had the opportunity to win a variety of items available through a silent auction. Proceeds from the Foundation President’s reception will support scholarships for students through the Triton College foundation. Triton is a two-year community college dedicated to helping members of the 25 communities in Western Cook County within the district and beyond achieve educational, professional and personal success. It is located in River Grove.
