Rosemont residents can join other fans to watch the FIFA World Cup soccer competition at the Rosemont Recreation Center on Barry Street on a giant inflatable screen beginning Thursday, June 12 through Thursday, June 26.

Recreation Center Program Director Omar Camarillo said at the park board meeting yesterday (Tuesday), that the center will be showing 12 games on 11 different days. He said Rosemont residents can view the games for free and are invited to bring their own refreshments.

Camarillo said since the games will be shown in the center’s soccer turf area, attendees can bring blankets, pillows or chairs.

The center World Cup viewing schedule is:

• Thursday, June 12 – the opening game - Brazil vs. Croatia, 3 p.m.
• Friday, June 13 – Mexico vs. Cameroon, 11 a.m.
• Monday, June 16 – Germany vs. Portugal, 11 a.m. and USA vs. Ghana, 5 p.m.
• Tuesday, June 17 – Brazil vs. Mexico, 2 p.m.
• Wednesday, June 18 – Spain vs. Chile, 2 p.m.
• Thursday, June 19 – Uruguay vs. England, 2 p.m.
• Friday, June 20 – Italy vs. Costa Rica, 11 a.m.
• Monday, June 23 – Croatia vs. Mexico, 3 p.m.
• Tuesday, June 24 – Italy vs. Uruguay, 11 a.m.
• Wednesday, June 25 – Nigeria vs. Argentina, 11 a.m.
• Thursday, June 26 – USA vs. Germany, 11 a.m.

“We are lucky this time. Since the games are being played in Brazil there is no time difference so people can watch the games in real time,” Camarillo said.

Camarillo also said the center will be host to a Zumbathon June 28 from 11:30 a.m. through 1 p.m.
