Dash Supports Down Syndrome Programs

Runners participating in a 5K to raise funds supporting programs for individuals with Down Syndrome will wind their way through the streets of Rosemont early Sunday, June 12 beginning at MB Financial Park.
Rosemont will host a lively crowd of all ages at MB Financial Park, 5501 Park Place, beginning at 7:30 a.m. for the annual Gigi's Playhouse 5K run, one-mile walk “Dash for Down Syndrome” and family fest.
Live music, face painting, ongoing activities and special programs will be held all day at the Park for participants and supporters.
The 5K starts at 8:45 a.m. The route winds through Rosemont beginning at MB Park taking runners right (south) on Otto Avenue where they will go through the parking garage to Balmoral Avenue. They will turn left (east) on Balmoral to River Road, left (north) on River to Evenhouse Avenue, right (east) on Evenhouse and circle Riverway West back out onto River, turn left (south) on River to Balmoral, right (west) on Balmoral, right (north) on Otto as the last leg takes them through the tunnel and finish at MB Financial Park.
The one-mile walk will take a similar route and starts at 9:30 a.m.
GiGi’s Playhouse began in 2003 in Hoffman Estates. It offers 30 educational and therapeutic programs at no charge to families with children or adults who have Down syndrome, including literacy programs. There are 23 playhouses in the U.S. and one in Queretaro, Mexico.
Sunday’s event in Rosemont will include bounce houses, face painting, dancing, music with a DJ, a noon performance by Modern Day Romeos, Sugar Factory’s complimentary goodie bags and a discount on bowling at Kings Bowl.
All Park venues are supporting the efforts by offering 15% discounts to all Playhouse families for the duration of the event. Reserved patio seating for participants will be offered at Park restaurants.
