Cross Connection Control Notice

To: Village of Rosemont Water Customers
Re: Cross Connection Control Notice – Ordinance No. 2019-1-9A
The Village of Rosemont is moving forward with a revised cross connection control (backflow preventer) program. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) requires every water supplier to develop and implement a comprehensive cross connection program for the elimination of existing cross connections prevention and protection from all future cross connections.
Cross Connections are sometimes protected by a valve called a backflow preventer. Backflow preventers are the property of the water customer and the responsibility lies with the customer for annual testing and maintenance. The water customer must contact the Village of Rosemont Water Department for all testing on backflow devices starting March 1, 2019. Testing will only be done by the Village’s CCCDI contactor at a rate of $250.00 per device which will include one (1) retest. If the device fails on the retest, and requires a second retest, a fee of $100.00 per test will be charged until the device passes.
Any violations on the water source must be repaired or replaced within five (5) days of receiving the violation. All buildings are required to have a backflow device on its main water service line. This device must be installed by a licensed plumber at owner’s expense. The Village will then inspect and test when installation is completed.
All irrigation system backflow devices must be tested by June 1 annually. All single check devices on fire systems must be changed to RPZ with detector assembly.
Please contact the Village of Rosemont Water Department to schedule backflow inspections. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 847-698-3744.
