The Department of Public Works is tasked with the operation, maintenance and repair of the Village’s infrastructure and fleet. The Department consists of three divisions: the Laborer Division which is responsible for our streets, landscaping, and traffic signage; the Water and Sewer Division which oversees the water, wastewater, and storm water systems, and also maintains the three pumping stations within the Village; and the Mechanical Division which maintains 90 Village vehicles, including Public Safety vehicles, fire apparatus, public works vehicles, and equipment. These Divisions are dedicated to working as a team to ensure that our residential and business community receives the highest quality of services.
The Public Works Division maintains over 18 miles of roadway, maintains seven beautifully landscaped parks. The Laborers Division’s full time staff includes a Director; three (3) Laborer Foreman; eighteen (18) laborers; one (1) Mechanical Foreman, two (2) mechanics; and three (3) water operators. Key services and programs provided by the Public Works Department include:
Street patching and concrete replacement
Traffic sign and pavement marking installation and repair
Parkway tree trimming
Snow and ice control of Village streets and sidewalks
Senior Lawn Service Program
Senior Snow Removal Program
The Water and Sewer Division is responsible for the maintenance, operation and repair of the water distribution, wastewater collection, and storm water systems. The maintenance and repair of water mains, sanitary sewers including hydrant and valve repair, water meter repair and replacement, water and wastewater pumping systems. The Division’s staff oversees the operation of the Village’s water pumping stations and sanitary lift stations. The Village manages a water demand of over an average of 1.6 million gallons of water each day. The Village’s drinking water meets all EPA standards for quality and reliability.
Water Billing Schedule Update:
Beginning January 1, 2016, the residential billing cycle for water customers will change. Residents with single-family homes will now be billed four times a year instead of three times. Water bills will be generated at the end of March, June, September, and December, this change was made due to water reporting requirements for the IDNR, that the Village of Rosemont must comply with. REPUBLIC SERVICES (TRASH/RECYCLING) 2019 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE:
New Year’s Day – Service interruption, pickup will be on Thursday, January 3rd
Memorial Day – Service interruption, pickup will be on Thursday, May 30th
Labor Day – Service Interruption, pickup will be on Thursday, September, 5th
Thanksgiving Day – No Service Interruption
Christmas Day – Service Interruption, pickup will be on Thursday, December 26th

LARGE ITEM PICKUP:
Large item pickup dates are Wednesday, April 10th, and Wednesday October 9th.
If you have items that need to be picked up, please have them curbside no later than 6:00 a.m. that morning. All electronics will be accepted, if you are putting out paint cans, please make sure all paint is dried out. You can do this by placing sand, or kitty litter inside the paint can. If you are putting out large appliances with doors, please remove doors for safety reasons.
PLEASE NOTE: IN THE PAST OUR LARGE ITEM PICK-UP HAS ALWAYS BEEN ON THE FIRST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH. THEY WILL NOW BE ON THE SECOND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH.
