Holiday Events Planned For Rosemont Parks

The Rosemont Park District is hosting a number of holiday programs as Christmas approaches.
Santa Claus will arrive at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at Lange Park, 6140 Scott St., and visit with children until 4 p.m.

Letters to Santa can be delivered to a special mailbox at Lange Park, between Nov. 25 and Dec. 9, for a personal answer from Santa. Letters can also be mailed to: Santa c/o Rosemont Park District, 6140 N. Scott St., Rosemont IL 60018.

The holiday candy guessing contest jars will be out Nov. 25 at Lange, Dunne and Barry front desks. Winners who get closest to the right number by Dec. 13 will receive the contents.

A Christmas Party is planned at Barry Rec, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 13, with a special visit from Santa. A DJ and snacks will be provided but pre-registration is required for a food bracelet. Register by Nov. 29 at the Barry front desk. Residents are free; non-residents pay $8.

Lange Park will host an Elf on The Shelf party from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, for ages 5 years and up. The cost is $10 for residents, $14 for non-residents; $5 for each additional child.
In addition, craft classes are available.

At Lange Park, ornament making is planned for Monday, Dec.2 from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. The fee is $10 for residents; $14 for non-residents; $5 for each additional child.

Children, ages 3 to 5, must be accompanied by a parent. Children 6 and up can stay by themselves. Register by Nov. 23.

Make gingerbread houses on Dec. 9 at Lange Park or Dec. 18 at Barry Rec Center. Fees are $20 for residents; $25 for non-residents; $5 for additional children.

Lange Park offers two sessions, at 3:15 p.m. and, if there are enough registrations, at 4:30 p.m. The Barry class will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

A gift making class will be offered Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Lange Park. Children, 5 years and up, will assemble sweet treats in a mason jar and decorate the jar as a present. The fee is $10 for residents, $14 for non-residents; $5 per additional child.
