Butch Hobson enters 2018 as the first manager in Chicago Dogs history. Hobson joins the Chicago Dogs with more than 30 years of experience in both major and minor league baseball, including three seasons as manager of the Boston Red Sox. Hobson served as third baseman for Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox (1975-1980), California Angels (1981) and New York Yankees (1982). After retiring as a player, Hobson managed the Boston Red Sox (1992-1994), where he led the team to 207 victories. Hobson has also managed the Boston Red Sox minor league system, New York Mets minor league system, Philadelphia Phillies minor league system and the Independent Atlantic League’s Lancaster Barnstormers, Mobile Bay Sharks and Nashua Pride. Hobson most recently served as manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Class A affiliate.
