June is Alzheimer's Brain Awareness Month
June is Alzheimer's Brain Awareness Month, and since the color of the Alzheimer's movement is purple, the Village of Rosemont is helping to raise awareness by lighting building and structures through out the village purple!
Simply by having a brain, every person in your community is at risk for developing Alzheimer's, a fatal disease that cannot be prevented, treated or even slowed. Over 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and as many as 16 million will have the disease in
2050. The cost of caring for those with Alzheimer's and other dementias is estimated to total 1.1 trillion (in today's dollars) by mid-century. Currently, 220,000 Illinois residents are living with Alzheimer's, and an estimated 590,000 caregivers.
