Rosemont’s Holiday Decorating Contest Underway
The annual Rosemont Holiday Decorating Contest is underway. During the week of Dec. 18, the contest's anonymous judges will begin touring the village looking for residential holiday decorations that stand out.
Judging will be completed by Dec. 23. Winners will be notified by phone soon after results are given to the village. Contest judges are not from Rosemont.
All residents can participate in the contest, including those in single-family homes, condos and apartments.
"The judges look at all decorations, and love to see the windows decorated as well. Decorations cannot be done professionally by a company. They must be done by the homeowner, or family members,” said public works official Lisa DiMatteo. "It's always wonderful to see how everyone decorates. It truly adds to the holiday celebration."
The winners will be recognized at the January village board meeting and will receive their prize then. If winners are unable to attend the meeting, prizes will be mailed.
Prizes are: first place - $300; second place - $200; third place - $100 and $50 for the top decorated condo or apartment.
Rosemont's decorating contest began in the 1980s. Prizes are funded by the Bradley A. Stephens for Mayor fund.
