Rosemont Freezes Over For Holiday Season Nov. 25


Part of Rosemont becomes “Frozemont” Friday, Nov. 25 as the village not only flips the switch at 5:30 p.m. turning on what is expected to be another “visible from space” holiday lights display, but also opens the ice skating rink for the winter season at 11 a.m. at MB Financial Park. 

“Ice skating at Frozemont has become a holiday tradition for MB Financial Park’s visitors,” Mayor Brad Stephens said. “The ice skating, incredible holiday lights and amazing variety of dining and entertainment venues help create the ultimate holiday experience for our visitors to enjoy.”

The NHL-sized Frozemont ice rink officially opens at 11 a.m. while other activities are available for visitors throughout the day including visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, ice carving, entertainment, and free horse-drawn sleigh rides around the park.

After Mayor Stephens arrives at 5:30 p.m. he will introduce a performance by the Chicago Skates figure skating synchronized team before officially illuminating the park with a display of more than 80,000 holiday lights.

Frozemont ice rink will close that night at 10 p.m. MB Financial Park restaurants will be open for lunch and dinner throughout the day.
Ice skating hours for Nov. 25-Dec. 23 are Monday-Thursday: 4 to 9 p.m.; Friday: 4 to 11 p.m.; Saturday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Special holiday hours are: Dec. 24, (Christmas Eve): 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Dec. 25 (Christmas Day): 4 to 11 p.m.; Dec. 26-30: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve): 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.; Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day): 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Jan. 2-5: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Jan. 16 (Martin Luther King Day): 2 to 10 p.m.; and Feb. 20 (Presidents Day): 2 to 10 p.m.

Rink admission is free. Skate rentals are available for $8.
