Village of Rosemont Welcomes DHL Innovation Center's First Americas Location
The Village of Rosemont is proud to welcome DHL’s first Americas Innovation Center when it opens Thursday, Sept. 12 at 9580 West Higgins Road. The Rosemont Innovation Center will join DHL’s two additional Innovation Centers in Troisdorf, Germany and Singapore and spearhead the company’s development of future logistics and supply chain solutions in the Americas region.
The Americas Innovation Center will exhibit technologies and innovations in logistics that DHL is currently implementing around the world. The Center will also serve as a regional collaborative space to foster the exploration of new solutions between DHL, its customers and technology partners.
“In today’s digital era, businesses are consistently looking to evolve,” said Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens. “The addition of DHL’s newest Innovation Center in Rosemont will enhance Rosemont’s ever-growing business community while also showcasing the latest trends and technological advances in the logistics industry.”
The new Americas Innovation Center will house DHL’s logistic innovations and robotics labs and will offer customers and partners a peek into the future of logistics, showcasing various scenarios of what the world and its transportation infrastructure might look like in 2050. The latest technology trends in robotics and automation, artificial intelligence, self-driving vehicles, the Internet of Things and virtual reality – all of which are already being tested or implemented by the Group – will also be featured.
“The Chicago area has a rich history of logistics and innovation and Rosemont’s strategic location as well as its unique mix of business and hospitality makes this village an excellent choice for the new DHL Americas Innovation Center,” said Matthias Heutger, SVP, Global Head of Innovation & Commercial Development at DHL. “With this new center, we now have a platform for research and collaborative innovation between DHL customers, start-ups, academia, industry partners, and innovation experts in the Americas region.”
With a surface area of 24,000 square feet, the state-of-the-art facility will allow DHL to host logistics trend and innovation events for up to 300 guests.
