ROSEMONT, IL – Ozzie Giglio is expanding his Windy City Motorcycle Co. empire yet again with the announcement of a new retail location in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, adjacent to O’Hare International Airport.
The new location is scheduled to open in summer 2018, in time for Harley-Davidson’s 115th Anniversary celebration, Giglio told Dealernews.
Once the Rosemont store is open, WCMC expects to relocate its corporate headquarters from Fox River Harley-Davidson in west suburban St. Charles to the new, more centralized, location, Giglio said in a press release.
The 20,000 sq. ft. store, in MB Financial Park, will offer Harley-Davidson merchandise and products, and operate the group’s centralized national and international Harley-Davidson rentals and tours businesses for the Chicagoland area. “Somewhere between 8,000 and 10,000 visitors are expected to travel to Rosemont annually to pick up their motorcycles, enjoy the local area for a day or two, and then embark on their journeys across the United States, WCMC said.
“Rosemont is an exceptional location for our continued expansion,” Giglio said. “It is perfect. The Village is extremely supportive and has great vision and foresight. Rosemont is the central point of the greater Chicagoland area, is an entertainment and dining capital in the region, continues to be a tourist (local, national and international) mecca, remains unequaled in a concentration of quality and affordable hotel accommodations, and, of course, is extremely proximate to O’Hare for easy access. We will have Windy City Harley shuttles to take people back/forth to the airport and surrounding hotels while in town.”
Rosemont is home to the Daniel E. Stephens Convention Center, which hosts conventions, trade shows and consumer shows year-round, including the Progressive International Motorcycle Show held in February.
Economies of scale will allow WCMC to control operating costs, hold or reduce margins on sales and maintain acceptable profitability, Giglio said.
“I think Harley-Davidson understands that a sophisticated, multi-store Dealer/operator has the ability to provide far more superior customer service by being able to invest more heavily in infrastructure, operations, employee training and customer support mechanisms,” said Justin Johnson, vice president and chief operating officer at WCMC. “And while the single store operator has certain benefits, it is very tough to remain viable in the modern economy and to provide the level of customer service and experience that our dedicated and loyal customers have grown to demand and deserve.”
WCMC’s current Dealer lineup includes:
Barbed Wire Harley-Davidson (De Kalb, IL)
City Limits Harley-Davidson (Palatine, IL)
Fox River Harley-Davidson and Windy City Triumph (St. Charles, IL)
