Just a short Blue Line ride away lies a whole host of fun and delicious times.
Just a hop and a skip from O’Hare Airport and downtown Chicago, the suburb of Rosemont is most commonly referred to simply as “The Village.” The Village encapsulates a small but mighty 2.5-square-mile area filled with glittering entertainment venues, a bustling convention center, an action-packed arena that includes a theater, park, plaza, and museum, and even plays host to four dozen eateries and more.
This fall and winter season is a particularly festive time to visit, with plenty of holiday events happening at the infamous Hofbräuhaus Chicago, the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, the Parkway Bank Park, and the Rosemont Theatre. Below are just a few of our favorites, but we recommend you visit their website to scope out all the events left to explore this year.
Hofbräuhaus Chicago Rosemont Oktoberfest: September 13-October 31
If you seek all the hot schnitzels and sausages, leather lederhosens and dirndls, and quintessential stein mugs for slinging frothy märzens and weizens—that is Oktoberfest—then Hofbräuhaus Chicago in Rosemont is your place. There are a few more days to enjoy Bavarian music, plenty of “Oktoberfestbier,” daily food specials, celebrity keg-tapping ceremonies, and many more festivities to keep you spirited for nearly eight weeks of celebration. Check online for ongoing events.
Parkway Bank Park “Light Up The Park”: November 29
Nothing rings in the holidays quite like the annual tree-lighting at Rosemont’s Parkway Bank Park. This day is chock full of holiday spirit—kicking off with the season opening of the Chicago Wolves Ice Rink at 11am. At 5:30pm, Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens will officially “Light Up The Park” with more than 80,000 holiday lights. Then, visit with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, cozy up in horse-drawn sleigh rides, witness spectacular ice carvings, and top off the day with a visit to any of the choice restaurants around the Park. Dinner and a Holiday Show at Rosemont Theatre: December 8-21
The Rosemont Theatre is host to countless experiences—think Broadway musicals, full-scale productions, and world-class entertainment—which especially shine bright in this December’s holiday line-up. Plan your own special dinner and a show.
Choose from more than 45 restaurants nestled in Rosemont: dine Italian at Carmine’s, find classics at Morton’s The Steakhouse, or deep dive into incredible seafood at Truluck’s. Then couple that with a ticket to one of the upcoming holiday performances. Consider: the “Moscow Ballet Great Russian Nutcracker,” December 8, 2pm/6pm; “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” Dec. 14, 1pm/5pm; “Mannheim Steamroller,” Dec. 20, 8pm; or “A Magical Cirque Christmas,” Dec. 21, 8pm. Grab tickets at the box office or online.
